Photojournalist José Galvez to speak at Beatties Ford Road Regional Library for exhibit opening

Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist José Galvez will visit Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s Beatties Ford Road branch (2412 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte NC) on Tuesday, June 9, at a reception for his photography exhibit Documenting Latino Life in North Carolina. The exhibit will be on display at the library through June 30.

Galvez’s presentation will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. He will discuss the contributions and impact of Latinos in North Carolina. The exhibit and reception are free to the public.

For over 40 years, José Galvez has used black and white film to create a powerful and unparalleled historical record of the Latino experience in America. His compelling work, done with respect, pride and no pretense, captures the beauty of daily life. Galvez’s work has garnered international acclaim, including the Pulitzer.

In addition to this event, Galvez will be speaking at the closing of "Con a de Arte" at the Mint Museum Uptown on June 10.
