The attractive 24-page brochure paints an inviting picture of the destination

The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CAVCB) is proud to announce the release of a brand new visitors guide.

Resembling a magazine more than a traditional visitors guide, the 24-page brochure is an alluring piece, which aims to entice potential visitors to choose the Charlottesville area for their next leisure trip, meeting or special event.

The new visitors guide marks the first major piece of print collateral in several years, and “unlike so many traditional guides on the market, ours is advertising-free,” said Kurt Burkhart, CACVB Executive Director. “This was a huge departure, and our board of directors clearly felt this was a better direction in which to go.”

“Charlottesville is an amazing place, and loved by so many as evidenced by the large number of print publications already on the market,” said Burkhart. “Rather than asking local partners to choose which publication to advertise in, we eliminated that option by focusing on the destination and keeping the content free of advertising.”

The guide was designed by the local marketing firm, Payne, Ross & Associates, in close collaboration with the CACVB team. Payne, Ross & Associates was pleased to have been the selected agency to create the official visitors guide for Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The guide follows our yearlong work to encourage more people to visit Charlottesville, to stay longer, and to spend more money,” says Susan Payne, President of Payne, Ross & Associates.

Burkhart said that he could not be happier with the results. “Our guide conveys a really dynamic and inviting picture of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, and invites potential guests to choose our destination not only for our historic assets, but for our vibrant food & wine scene, great outdoors and cultural events.”

Charlottesville and Albemarle County have racked-up numerous accolades that continue to motivate travelers to visit, what is commonly referred to as, Jefferson’s County. Forbes Magazine named our area the Locavore capital of the world; Go Green Go Travel chose Charlottesville as their #1 destination for agritourism; and Wine Enthusiast Magazine proclaimed Virginia as one of the top 10 wine destinations in the world. With its burgeoning arts and entertainment scene, Charlottesville remains a draw for visitors who attend our array of festivals and events that celebrate music, theater and innovation, not to mention food & wine.

Aside from having the guide available at the visitor center on Charlottesville’s historic downtown mall and, at its satellite location at 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville, the new guide will also be available at Virginia’s official welcome centers across the state.

Attendees at future travel and trade shows where the CACVB will participate, such as PowWow International and Travel Media Showcase, will be able to pick up the guide as they talk with CACVB staff.

In addition to the CACVB’s website, mobile and social media, and especially its highly popular Facebook page, Experience Charlottesville, the guide further reinforces the call-to-action for prospective visitors to keep Charlottesville and Albemarle County top-of-mind when considering getaway weekend and vacation options.
