ChemImage Selected for a Small Business Innovation Research Phase II Award by the U.S. NVESD
PITTSBURGH, October 26, 2011 — ChemImage Corporation will receive support through a U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II award to continue research and development of NightGuard, a standoff hyperspectral imaging sensor.
Managed by the Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD), the 18-month contract will enable the company to build on the successes achieved in Phase I, while plotting a course for commercialization. When development is complete, NightGuard will provide soldiers with the ability to detect potential threat areas in day and nighttime situations at standoff distances.
“We’re extremely pleased to have the continued support of the NVESD,” said Patrick Treado, Ph.D., Founder & Chief Technology Officer at ChemImage. “Important federal programs like the SBIR enable us to keep making advancements in our technology which benefit end-users.”
In May of this year, ChemImage received the U.S. Army SBIR 2011 Achievement Award, recognizing the company’s exceptional SBIR Phase II efforts for the real-time chemometrics and sensor fusion software powering NightGuard.
