Chisinau, Moldova - The vibrant capital of Moldova, Chisinau, is set to host the 5th annual Creative Industries Festival (FIC 2024) from May 28 to June 3, 2024. The festival will be held at Artcor, coinciding with the center's 5th anniversary. This landmark event will celebrate the diversity and beauty of Moldova’s creative industries.

Organized by Artcor and held under the patronage of President Maia Sandu, FIC 2024 is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Investment Agency, the Future Technologies Project funded by USAID, Sweden, and UK aid, as well as the Moldcell Foundation.

 

The festival serves as an umbrella platform for educational programs, community-building opportunities, promotional activities, and business events for creative companies, NGOs, and freelancers. It promotes creative industries among young people, offering professional development opportunities, attracting international talent, and fostering prospects for international growth.

 

At FIC 2024, the focus will be on continuing to explore current trends and topics for the industry, discussing technologies and their impact on creators/creations, connecting the community, and inviting successful models both locally and internationally to inspire artists in the country. The festival also aims to position Moldova as a regional hub for creativity and talent, in line with the recently approved National Program “Creative Moldova.”

  • Mirko Ilić (USA): Renowned graphic designer and illustrator, known for his impactful work in visual communication and activism.
  • Monica Irina Garcia (USA): Esteemed representative from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, bringing insights on future museum trends and innovations.
  • Thiago Maya (UK): Acclaimed graphic designer whose work merges traditional design techniques with modern technology.
  • Tina Touli (UK): Celebrated graphic designer, recognized for her dynamic and interactive design approach.
  • Yuki Katayama (Japan): Senior editor at Kodansha, offering expertise in storytelling and publishing.
  • Jekaterina Basjuka (Sweden): Researcher specializing in storytelling and UX/UI at Linköping University, Stockholm, known for her innovative approach to user experience.
  • Mercedes Marro (Spain): Director & CEO of Tomavision Group, with 25 years of experience in audiovisual and animated content, emphasizing the power of storytelling in creative industries.
  • Delia Teșileanu (Romania): Music manager with extensive experience in nurturing and promoting musical talents.

 

Exhibitions:

 

  • Tolerance Project: International poster show curated by artist-activist Mirko Ilić, showcasing powerful messages of tolerance and diversity.
  • Untold Stories of the City: Featuring illustrations and AR, developed at Artcor, highlighting the hidden narratives of urban life.
  • Moldova in a Postcard: A creative exploration of Moldova through illustrated postcards and augmented reality, conceived and developed at Artcor.

 

Workshops:

  • Typography in a Liquid Chaos: Moderated by Tina Touli and Thiago Maya, this workshop will delve into the fluid and evolving nature of modern typography.
  • Music Portfolio Review: Conducted by Delia Teșileanu, providing invaluable feedback and guidance to emerging music talents.
  • Mindful Calligraphy: Led by Bianca Dumitrașcu, focusing on the art of mindful and expressive calligraphy.

 

In addition to these highlights, the festival will feature meetups, a local design market, and live concerts with performances by artists such as Catalina Cara & Magic Flowers, Doina Urbană: Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, Cuibul & Zdob și Zdub, and an open mic/music residency.
