Moldova’s premier economic forum, Moldova Business Week 2024 (MBW 2024), is set to return with a dynamic new agenda, offering unparalleled opportunities for international investors and businesses seeking to engage with one of Eastern Europe’s most promising markets. For the first time, the event will be held across four strategic locations - Chișinău, Edineț, Ungheni, and Bălți - attracting over a thousand participants, including global investors, regional business leaders, government officials, and leading economic experts. Spreading for 5 days during September 16th - 20th, MBW 2024 will feature 13 targeted events designed to explore and advance key sectors of Moldova’s economy, making it a crucial platform for showcasing the country’s economic potential and growth opportunities. This year’s forum is especially significant as Moldova aims to accelerate its integration into the European Union by 2030, providing businesses with access to a consumer market exceeding 1 billion people.

This year’s MBW 2024 expands its reach across Moldova to ensure that businesses from all corners of the country—and beyond—can access vital information and establish new international collaborations. The event will highlight sectors with high growth potential, including agri-food, automotive and electronics, energy, infrastructure, IT, tourism, and the wine industry. Additionally, MBW 2024 will introduce discussions on emerging sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry and medical tourism, aligning with global trends and tapping into the significant opportunities these industries present for international investors.

 

September 16th, MBW 2024: Fostering International Investment and Collaboration for Economic Growth

 

The Opening Event on September 16th, in Chișinău will bring together high-ranking officials from Moldova and the European Union, reinforcing their commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that supports international investment and strengthens Moldova’s global economic presence. Key events include the EU-Moldova Investment Forum, where top officials and experts from the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, along with companies from the EU and Moldova will present lucrative opportunities in renewable energy, the circular economy, and the financial sector, facilitating the exchange of best practices among participants from across Europe and beyond.

Creative industry professionals worldwide are invited to join "Creative Capital for Growth and Investment," organized by ArtCor – Moldova’s creative industries hub, to explore new avenues for education, investment and collaboration within this burgeoning sector.

 

September 17th, MBW 2024: Expanding Real Estate, Technology, and Innovation

On September 17th, the "Real Estate Forum" in Chișinău will explore the opportunities within Moldova’s real estate market, focusing on government initiatives, tourism real estate investments, and Green Building developments.

The "6th StrategEast State and IT Eurasian Forum" will offer a unique platform for discussing strategies to drive innovation-led growth across the region, a two-day event that brings together global and local representatives from the private sector, governments, and financial institutions providing an efficient framework for discussions of the measures needed to boost the innovative economy across the region and to support the integration of countries into the global economic and security system.

Professionals in the IT sector are encouraged to attend “SUM IT UP #6: Global Connect – Powered by MITP”, an event that will convene leaders and innovators from the realms of technology and business. This platform will highlight Moldova’s progress as a burgeoning global technology hub, offering a comprehensive overview of the latest sector data. The event will delve into six critical areas: cybersecurity, the business environment, government support, ecosystem synergy, sales growth, and talent development. The event will provide a platform for engaging with MITP residents, offering networking opportunities with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and other developers involved in Moldova’s IT ecosystem.

 

September 18th, MBW 2024: Leveraging Synergies Between Agri-Food and Electronics Industries

 

Moldova Business Week 2024 program will continue in Edineț, focusing on the increasingly interconnected sectors of agriculture and electronics. As technological advancements reshape the agri-food industry, electronic devices and systems are playing an essential role in enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and safety within the sector. The event will highlight Moldova’s potential in these promising industrial fields through a series of activities, including field visits, where participants will meet with leading fruit producers, entrepreneurs pioneering nanowire technologies, and companies specializing in electronic systems. Additionally, networking sessions with experts from both industries will facilitate valuable exchanges of knowledge and experiences, fostering new business opportunities and collaborations.

Meanwhile, in Chisinau, the startup community will convene at the 'Silicon Drinkabout' event, organized by Technovator, a key player in nurturing talent for innovation. This meetup will serve as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to gain insights into the startup process, from inception to scaling. Participants will engage in networking sessions designed to strengthen the local startup ecosystem, encouraging connections that drive technological transformation and support digital progress. The event aims to cultivate a vibrant community of innovators, positioning Moldova as a growing hub for tech entrepreneurship.

 

September 19th, MBW 2024: Focus on the Wine Industry and Medical Tourism

 

On September 19th, guests of Moldova Business Week 2024 are invited to Ungheni for an event dedicated to the tourism and wine industries. According to recent statistics, the Republic of Moldova ranks among the top 20 wine-producing countries worldwide. The wine industry is a critical pillar of the national economy, with Moldovan wines being exported to over 70 countries. Europe remains the most significant market for Moldovan wines, with a notable value growth of 36%. 

In Chișinău, professionals in the pharmaceutical and medical tourism sectors are invited to participate in a specialized event focusing on these rapidly growing industries. Discussions will explore potential avenues for collaboration and strategies to attract the international pharmaceutical industry to Moldova. Medical tourism will also be a key topic, highlighting Moldova’s expanding expertise and competitive medical services, which are gaining recognition at the regional level.

Also on September 19th, 2024, professionals in the tax field are invited to TAXCON'24, the largest international tax conference in Moldova. This 5th edition, marking a jubilee, will address pressing and complex issues related to tax and customs policy, administration, accounting, auditing, reporting, and labor relations within the tax domain.

 

September 20th, MBW 2024: Automotive Industry Focus

 

Balti, a key hub for the automotive industry in the Republic of Moldova, will host study visits as part of Moldova Business Week 2024, focusing on this vital sector of the economy. Moldova’s automotive sector is bolstered by the presence of over 20 companies from countries such as Germany, Japan, Italy, Austria, the USA, Switzerland, Belgium, and Romania. This rapidly expanding industry plays a significant role in the country’s export economy and has attracted substantial foreign investment, totaling $313 million.
