Chesapeake Beach, MD. September 4, 2013- On Wednesday October 23, 2013 the Rod ‘N’ Reel Restaurant at The Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa will present an Italian themed Wine Dinner. This occasion marks the final occasion of the restaurant’s second year of popular wine dinners, which first launched in 2012 to coincide with the continuing development of the Resort’s eclectic wine cellar.

The Rod ‘N’ Reel Restaurant’s Wine Dinner series was created to provide local community wine aficionados with a very special dining experience which combines their talented chef’s creations with selections from wine providers. Chief Operating Officer Orhan Soysal states “We have developed a real following with the series and look forward to this month’s Italian themed dinner.  As an extra treat for those attending the dinner we have arranged for entertainment to compliment the meal.” The Italian menu of this dinner borrows heavily from Chef Misero’s Italian heritage along with a great deal of research and effort that is put into the food and wine purchases to make this dining experience one of a kind.

The Italian Wine Dinner features five courses with a variety of wines from various regions of Italy. The menu starts with a Zonin Prosecco Wine served with prosciutto wrapped fresh figs, followed by a second course of Pumpkin Ravioli with brown butter and sage paired with Davinci Pinot Grigio, then grilled Duck Breast Flatbread Pizza served with Cusumano Nero D’Avola. The Fourth course follows of Grilled Swordfish Sicilian style, with Brancaia Tre (Super Tuscan) and finally, an encore of an assorted Chocolate Truffles paired with Fizz 56 Brachetto Red Spumante. While dining, guests are treated to detailed information on each wine by an expert guest speaker and on this particular occasion, continuing with the Italian theme of the event, singer/song writer Lou Martin will perform several musical numbers to entertain guests while they dine.

Lou Martin was an original member of the 1960’s era singing group “The Bobolinks” who released several records before later changing their name to “The Memories”. The Memories had musical performances and appearances on radio and TV including American Bandstand, and sang with such famous groups as the Beach Boys, the Drifters, Sha Na Na and Manhattan Transfer among others. Lou himself made history when became the only male singer to perform back up with the Supremes as a substitute for Mary Wilson who could not make a performance. Lou and current members of The Memories still sing nationally today and as a regular participant in Resort’s Wine Dinners, Lou looks forward to performing at the October event.
