Carl Flint managing director of GB Flint Coachworks in Long Eaton has recently been awarded the ABP Club 2010 Industry Knight at the Night of Knights in the Barcelo Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire. GB Flint is a family company run by the founders’ sons, Carl and John together with Carl’s wife Tanya. It is their combination of enthusiasm and skill that is the driving force behind this bodyshop. These qualities have been recognised within the industry through various prestigious awards and the Kitemark for vehicle body repair. Not all bodyshops are the same; repairing modern, technologically advanced motor vehicles has never been more challenging. Higher build quality, complex vehicle body design and electronics require much more skilful and competent technicians than had been required in the past. An important feature to look for is Kitemark approval. The ABP Club Night of Knights had presentations from leading companies within the UK body repair market with 436 attendees. It also showed year on year trend analysis. The Repairers’ Choice Awards followed where UK bodyshops vote for their favourite company in each of seven industry supplier categories. The highlight of the evening is a special award celebrating the achievements of an industry personality…. Carl Flint. Carl Flint, Managing Director at GB Flint, expressed his delight: “I can truly say that I am both astounded and overjoyed to be presented with this special award.” David Cresswell, Chairman for the ABP Club added: “This was our fourth Annual Convention and Night of Knights awards evening and our biggest and most successful to date. Our delegates enjoyed a wide range of speakers during the day, especially BSI's Steve Wright, who was so popular we had to ask him to come back after lunch and continue." "Our ABP Club Knight Awards evening celebrates the best in our industry and Carl Flint was the winner this year of our most prestigious award, the Industry Knight. This is awarded to the individual who has worked well beyond their call of duty and far outside the remit of their day-to-day role. “Carl has been heavily involved in the ATA (Automotive Technician Accreditation) scheme for the accident repair industry. This scheme ensures that the technicians repairing your car are fully trained and qualified. Carl has ensured that the scheme reflects the skills required to repair the latest safety-designed cars. Carl is also a long time supporter of the Vehicle Body Repair Kitemark with his business, G B Flint obtained their Kitemark certification in April 2008."
