EALING TRAILFINDERS BOASTS BEST MINI FOLLOWING
Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club is not solely based on the excellence of the first XV. The rugby club has always taken pride in its Mini Rugby following, with over 800 girls and boys training with the club each Sunday.
The Minis run from under 12’s all the way down to ‘the Rugby Rats’ (under 5’s), who are the youngest to come and train with Ealing. The main objective for the ‘Rats’ being that every child involved has an enjoyable experience.
The under 8’s and younger play tag rugby every Sunday, whereas the older teams begin to learn the contact side of the game before moving onto the youth section of the club, which play in the Herts-Middlesex leagues.
Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club is incredibly proud of the boys and girls that turn up every Sunday to train with the club. Mike Cudmore, Director and General Manager at the club, said: “We have over 800 Minis training with us now, which I believe is one of the largest sections in the country.”
Ealing Trailfinders coach kids how to play in the right spirit, with only some emphasis being put on winning and achieving. The most important thing is that the player develops and enjoys his or her rugby.
Gradual progress at a lower level has been evident, with teams from Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club impressing in competitive matches. This is heart-warming news for English rugby as not only are the kids progressing to a level that is suitable at Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club, but there is always the possibility of playing at the highest level as well.
The overwhelming number of kids wanting to play rugby at ETRFC has been so great that the club has decided to offer the kids the opportunity of playing over the summer too. The club has now announced it will be holding 3 weeks of fun rugby camps for kids.
Minis and juniors from the ages 6-16 have been invited to join one of the three weeks of camp that the club will be running throughout August.
The younger generation is the future of rugby and Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club certainly understands the importance of all the teams at the club. Development levels and coaching are up there with the best in the country, leaving parents very satisfied with their children training with the club.
