Husband and wife owned bodyshop Essex Extreme Bodyworks, based in Romford, recently gained the Kitemark - setting the high standards that consumers' and fleet managers expect when having their cars repaired. Established for over 11 years, it now has a team of 22 staff led by Jacqui who deals with the daily tasks of the back office business and Bill McKenna who overseas the work in the bodyshop. They have a team of highly trained individuals with many years of practical experience in the automotive body repair field, and enjoy long established relationships with a wide range of customers. They have a substantial work space of some 40,000 sq ft and repair around 45 vehicles a week. Their work is not only from insurance companies but NHS trust and private front line emergency services as well. Director Jacqui McKenna commented: “Alongside our bodyshop we also have a mechanical workshop, making us a ‘one stop shop’ for all your car and commercial needs. We have three jigs including a seven and half ton ‘Chief EZ Liner’ with the Genesis velocity laser measuring system, plus the latest four wheel alignment equipment for car and commercial use up to five ton capacity. The bodyshop has four ovens including two high top commercial ovens and full aluminum repair facilities. “We have recently re-branded and invested heavily in the business with new signage and the Kitemark. Arthur Peck our compliance manager took the task on of ensuring we would gain the prestigious certification and explained to staff what was involved. Staff reaction was very positive and they pulled together and worked hard to gain the ATA. We at Essex Extreme Bodyworks have also made improvements within the company with auditing and internal procedures. Although our customer relations were already good we have still been able to make improvements in our bodyshop but with the procedures and processes now in place from the Kitemark it is even better. We also like to consider ourselves to be a very female friendly repair garage.” Jacqui is also a strong believer in the power of marketing and is very pro-active though social media and networking plus regular blogs, Updating her business Facebook page and Tweets as regularly as possible with offers news and views. She also asks motorists what they look for in a bodyshop and also informs them of the importance of visiting a Kitemark bodyshop. Scott Hanney Business Development Manager, BSI added: “We are impressed with the dedication shown by the team at Essex Extreme Bodyworks. We truly believe that it will benefit their organisation and their customers. By gaining the certification it demonstrates how serious the bodyshop is about getting critical vehicle body repair safety processes right. “ EDITOR’S NOTES: For details on BSI Kitemark visit www.kitemark.com.
