Taplow based father and daughter owned Kitemark certified Parkford Coachworks has recently doubled their repair capacity to 36,000 sq ft and given the bodyshop a fresh look. Parkford Coachworks have been in business for nearly 30 years and decided to go for the Kitemark to demonstrate to their work providers that they were carrying out work to the highest possible standard. They gained the Kitemark last year. Having won the massive Fortis / Tesco repair contract Parkford decided to gain more flexibility by buying 50% of Windsorian Accident Repairs in Windsor (5 miles away from their first site) to complement Parkford. Over £2.5 million has been spent on premises and equipment. Georgina Herman, Solutions Manager and big supporter of the Kitemark commented: “Parkford have consistently chosen the manufacturers’ standard repair methods through the years. This has put us in good standing with insurance companies, brokers, fleet companies, Thames Valley Police and the private motorist. With new models appearing all the time this is something that cannot be taken lightly, therefore we have ensured that our staff can meet the demands of the new technology processes and their ATA training enables them to cope with such challenges.” “Holding the Kitemark has made the whole application process much simpler as it standardises the quality and processes. In addition the estimator’s ATA qualification encourages a better standard of estimating and therefore a higher profit margin for the business. We are also taking on new staff gradually as the business grows. “With regards to working with my father we are well suited to working together and to achieve the Kitemark we worked on each other’s strengths to achieve the best possible balance of power combining experience and enthusiasm to take the business forward. “ Georgina ensured that Parkford gained the Kitemark with little disruption last year and Windsorian Accident Repair has also followed suit by recently gaining the prestigious Kitemark status. Looking to the future, the pair were committed to the industry and with their new building and equipment have re-invested into the business. Georgina concluded: “We have now dedicated space and resource to a fast track/cosmetic repair system”. She believes there is a clear requirement for this in the industry and with Kitemark bodyshops with fully qualified ATA estimators being equipped at providing this service to motorists. . “If we estimate the damage and find the repair requires more than just cosmetic work, we have the equipment, training and qualifications on site to carry out a safe, structural repair. This is where the Kitemark has given us the edge.” The Fast Track operation is proving to be a great success so far.
