GROUPAUTO APPOINTS NETWORK MANAGER
Phil Seymour Joins The Approved Garages Network Team
GROUPAUTO UK & Ireland Ltd (GROUPAUTO), the UK’s largest trading group, has appointed industry expert Phil Seymour as the network manager for its Approved Garages initiative.
Phil has worked in the motor trade for almost all his working life, first in car sales and later in the business management side for a number of franchised dealers. His first foray into the independent sector came in 2007 when he joined Forte Lubricants and worked on their Good Garage Scheme, which is where he remained before starting in his position with GROUPAUTO.
Commenting on his appointment Phil said: “I’m delighted to be joining Approved Garages at the beginning of its journey and it is very exciting to be involved in its development from day one and to be able to see the fruits of our collective labour as the network grows.
“Approved Garages is a fantastic proposition for the garage and consumer alike. There is nothing else that is as comprehensive or as well thought through and for me, the fact that it is a not-for-profit venture and all the revenue it generates for the group will be re-invested into the marketing of the network as a whole, gives it huge credibility in the market.”
For GROUPAUTO, managing director, Jim Mazza added: “Now that we have formally launched Approved Garages www.approvedgarages.co.uk and we are in the process of recruiting reputable garages into the network, it is very important that we have a competent professional to coordinate the network as it expands.
“In Phil we believe we have found that person and are confident that having him in this role will be a great asset to the network as we continue its development to become the national network of high quality trusted garages that we have planned for over the last couple of years.”
Phil is a big sports fan, but has a particular passion for boxing and rugby league, in which he is a qualified coach and has coached up to county level. “The only cloud on an otherwise clear horizon is the fact that I’m a Wakefield Wildcats man, which might make things a little less comfortable in the corridors of Roydsdale House when we line up against Jim’s Rhino’s,” concluded Phil.

Notes for editors
Approved Garages is a not-for-profit programme that has substantial funding from GROUPAUTO, GROUPAUTO members and a number of high quality aftermarket parts suppliers, all of whom are committed to the long-term goal of improving the quality of the service that motorists receive from the independent sector.
Although the garages in the network are not obligated to buy all the products offered by these part suppliers, they jointly believe they will benefit over the long-term as the Approved Garages network grows and the culture of the independent sector changes from one that has used any old part to one that specifies quality parts for its repairs.
