Devonshire Motors Accident Repair Centre based in north Devon, a BSI Kitemark certified bodyshop, has scooped the Medium Bodyshop of the Year award AND Bodyshop Manager of the Year award at the Bodyshop Magazine Awards 2010. The awards event was held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on the 24th of September. The Awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation in and around the Motor Trade and are highly prized and regarded as the benchmark of the success of the bodyshop industry. With the Awards now in their 14th year, judges work to identify the best-of-the-best from hundreds of nominees. Having an accolade helps towards showing your superiority in the market place. Devonshire Motors Accident Repair Centre demonstrated that despite being faced with numerous challenges it has risen above the pressures to demonstrate just how outstanding and efficient a well-run bodyshop can be. Graeme Bennett, scooped Bodyshop Manager of the Year, he was a finalist last year but this year has taken the bodyshop to a new level after increasing the size of the bodyshop as well as gaining the businesses to fill it. According to the assessor, Graeme has his finger on the pulse in every aspect of his business. Retail work is a targeted opportunity for the bodyshop and marketing plays a huge role in the shop winning this lucrative source of work. With regular open evenings to local businesses and motorists- it is very much a community based bodyshop. To earn the BSI Kitemark, vehicle body repair shops must prove that they conform to tough new standards set down in PAS 125. These include strict requirements that focus on skills, repair methods, equipment and materials. In addition, workshops must demonstrate that they have repair process management controls in place to monitor activities. All these elements are then assessed by independent BSI inspectors and must meet stringent benchmarks to be awarded the valuable benchmark by BSI. Gaining the BSI Kitemark certification played a vital role in their achievement as it ensures Devonshire Motors has the processes place for continuous improvement and accountability. Modern vehicle construction is changing fast and you have to understand what materials you are working with to ensure you deal with them appropriately. Graeme Bennett, commented: “I am delighted that Devonshire Motors has scooped these prestigious awards, to have done ‘the double’ is absolutely fantastic, it’s a tribute to all our team as well as the quality of Kitemark which have played a key part in making Devonshire Motors ARC such a success! “ For more details on how to achieve the Kitemark visit www.kitemark.com.
