Di Mayze, 37, was made the happiest woman in Britain on the 1st of March as she received the keys to her brand new SEAT Altea after being crowned UK Worker of the Year 2012.

Di wowed the judges with her passion and drive for her business, becoming the competitions’ third winner at the Gala event at the Crowne Plaza in Marlow last year.

Di’s company called Ippee Design Ltd was launched in January 2011 when Di was on maternity leave. A year on and the popular product BuggyTug is sold by some of the leading retailers. She has since launched a new product TugTrio that is a pack of three buggy straps.

UK Worker of the Year is a national competition sponsored by Dickies, the well-renowned workwear brand, that recognises and rewards the excellence in the UK workforce.

Di, who was still in complete shock as she collected her prize from the Pentagon SEAT dealer in Nottinghamshire, said: “I can’t believe that’s my car. I was beginning to think it was all a big trick to see how excited I would get. This competition has changed my life and the car will help me so much with my work and business in the future. The journey has been brilliant and I’ve met so many fantastic people during my time in the competition. I’m already looking forward to being a part of UK Worker of the Year 2013 and hopefully getting a seat on the judging panel.”

Di was handed the keys to her new car by European Sales & Marketing Director, Dickies’ Maurice Morton and Fleet & Business Sales Marketing Manager of SEAT, Peter Brooking, who were both judges in the competition.

Maurice Morton explained: “Di has great enthusiasm and drive and she really deserves this accolade. We are delighted to see Di in her new car and we know that today really has fulfilled her dream. The car will give her that added confidence in her job and I hope that she goes on to become a great representative for UK Worker of the Year going forward. In the previous years we have gained fabulous ambassadors for the competition and I’m sure Di will add to that impressive and growing list.”

The road to finding UK Worker of the Year 2013 will began in April as the competition officially launches at the British Superbike Championship round at Thruxton, which is being sponsored by Dickies.

UK Worker of the Year is a free to enter competition and is open to anyone who works in the UK aged 17 or over.
