MOTORBELLE GAINS PRESTIGIOUS KITEMARK®

Motorbelle bodyshop based in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, opened in January 2010 and in the first four months gained the prestigious BSI Kitemark. The husband and wife owned bodyshop employs ten people. Nick Chalkley, Managing Director, has worked within the automotive aftermarket industry for 36 years and has always wanted to open his own bodyshop. Now he has. The bodyshop is 7,500 sq ft and repairs over 60 cars per month. June, his wife, looks after the administration, customers, HR and credit control. As soon as Motorbelle was opened the next step was to gain the Kitemark. All workshop staff have passed their ATA qualifications and the Kitemark was awarded to Motorbelle in April, only 16 weeks after opening. Nick commented: “We believe the Kitemark adds value to our business and helps us to compete on an even playing field with the competition. It also allows our bodyshop to demonstrate high quality on every level - both repair and customer service. It provides consistency within the business and ensures we have the relevant processes in place. In addition, modern vehicle construction is changing fast and you have to understand what materials you are working with to ensure you deal with them appropriately. “We received a positive response from our staff, as they were keen to receive formal training and a recognised qualification. In addition, every customer that we get through the door enquires about the Kitemark and what it means as they see our certificate and signage. We are very proud to explain to the customer what the Kitemark is and this gives them added reassurance that their car is in safe hands.” Approvals include: WNS, FMG, Nationwide and IVM. Looking to the future, the main priority for Motorbelle is to continue what they are doing and doing it well. They are looking at adding an MOT bay within 12 months, and perhaps gaining another site to expand the business.
