Optimal UK is ready for action

OPTIMAL FULLY PREPARED FOR UK AFTERMARKET ENTRY Leading European component distributor, Optimal has now completed its preparations to enter the UK aftermarket with a state of the art logistics centre in Germany and a new UK based central warehousing facility at Halesowen, West Midlands. Optimal’s German logistics centre employs cutting edge robotics to offer a fully automated warehousing system where, for example, selected small containers move automatically at six meters per second from their stock location to the packing area. The plant has capacity for 90.000 containers and 5.000 pallets. In the UK Optimal has also invested heavily, so as to be prepared to meet all of the foreseeable needs of all its customers. It has acquired a central warehousing facility based in the industrial heartland of the West Midlands. From its Halesowen base, Optimal will manage both its UK sales and logistics operations. Geoff Jones, Optimal UK managing director said, “Optimal KG has been supplying quality spare parts for axles, brakes, steering mechanisms, engines and other automotive products since its establishment in 1992. The strong growth of our company shows that our concept of doing business has met with the approval of customers and suppliers alike. In the UK, as on Continental Europe, Optimal’s modern communication systems, logistics and extensive stock mean that products will delivered on time with an excellent service throughout Optimal’s client portfolio. All products offer their customers first-class parts, of peerless quality, safety and long service life. The TÜV certifies the quality of many of Optimal’s steering & suspension parts for example, and all Optimal parts comply with European and international standards for the aftermarket, e.g. the manufacturer’s standards TS 16949, QS 9000, VDA 6.1, ISO 9001:2000 and in particular, the block exemption regulation no. 1400/2002. Jones adds: “With immediate effect, we will bring a full range of products into the UK and our offering will include Wheel Bearing Kits; Steering & Suspension for passenger cars, LCV and CV; Brake Systems, Shock Absorbers; Belt Tensioner Kits; Rubber Metal Parts and Water Pumps. With a product portfolio as extensive as this, we can confidently offer factors and distributors a one-stop shop and therefore a new and refreshing opportunity for their garage customers.” As a measure of the attention to detail that Optimal employs in its operations, all incoming goods are actually checked against drawings and/or original parts before being sent to the warehouse and their wheel bearing kits are produced and put together in accordance with strictly controlled processes and parts lists. In addition, an automatic weight check is carried out to make sure that each kit corresponds to exactly what the customer expects. Optimal’s European sales director, Peter Blondeel puts the company’s new UK operation into an overall perspective. “Optimal supplies parts to the global aftermarket, which have been sourced from production partners around the world: - OEMs and quality suppliers.
