CV giant moves to Philips lighting for replacement bulbs for its fleet.

Philips Automotive Lighting UK is delighted to announce that it has been appointed as an official aftersales supplier to leading commercial vehicle supplier, Ryder for vehicle lighting products in the UK. Philips’ long life bulbs impressed Ryder with their extreme durability and length of product life, which going forward will help make a significant difference in reducing downtime on Ryder’s vehicles. Ryder is now using Philips’ 24V MasterLife range, which offers exceptional vibration resistance and up to five times the lifespan of a standard 24V bulb, while the LongerLife bulbs, which Ryder is taking for 12V applications can last three or four times as long as a standard bulb. Ryder’s UK Head of Engineering Services, Nigel Carr comments, “As the UK’s leading provider of commercial vehicle rental, contract hire, maintenance and driver solutions, we regularly review all aspects of our operations and we understand that quality is key to our vehicle lighting requirements. Philips are the global leader in automotive lighting and there was an obvious potential fit, so we approached them about the benefits their lights could bring us and we are very pleased to be working together.” Philips’ UK Automotive Lighting General Manager, Ed Savage, comments, “One of the areas we really were able to help, was with regards to stop and tail lights. Most companies will focus on the headlights, because that is where about eighty percent of the lighting parts cost lies. However, almost eighty percent of the fitting cost for lighting is in stop, tail and indicator lighting and here the Philips MasterLife range really comes into its own, as its bulbs for these applications have a life of more than twice that of any other bulb range on the market.” Ryder operates a fleet of more than 11,,000 vehicles – some on the Ryder fleet and many others that are operated on behalf of some of the most respected brands around. Like any fleet operator, the company is always looking to maintain its vehicles to the highest standards, so as to minimize the amount of time they spend off the road. “Ryder is a forward-looking operation” continues, Philips’ Ed Savage ,“and we were delighted to be able to prove to them that our products will help them keep their considerable fleet of vehicles on the road for longer without unplanned interruption. We are delighted to welcome Ryder to the growing ranks of CV operators who understand that quality lighting products will help keep their vehicles running and who now, as a result, use Philips for replacement lighting.” Philips offers several complete ranges of CV products – in Master Duty, MasterLife and Master Duty Bluevision in 24V and LongerLife, EcoVision, Vision Plus and the multi-award winning Xtreme Power for 12V applications. Philips is now actively pursuing further CV trials with other major fleet operators who, like Ryder, might be able to benefit from running the Philips range of automotive lighting products on their vehicles. - ENDS -
