Latest TecDoc Development Set To Be A Hit Europe’s leading parts information data provider TecDoc has launched an App, which it has developed for the Apple iPhone and other ‘smart phone’ applications. The Parts Decoder application is TecDoc’s latest development and brings its reknowned parts data to a new mobile audience. The App is a simple to use product that is tailored to suit the specific requirements of the ‘smart phone’. So, rather than providing users with the full CATALOG parts catalogue function, the Parts Decoder is primarily a parts identification tool, which recognises OE part numbers, article numbers or trade numbers. Naturally, all of the parts brands that are represented on TecDoc are also available via the App, as are the product drawings and images, which is one of the most useful aspects of the application. Shaun Greasley, commercial director for TecDoc in the UK and Eire said: “Before this hand-held application was developed, it was very difficult to compare an image of a part when the actual part was still on the vehicle. However, with this new product, that option is now a reality. “The development of the Parts Decoder App is an important milestone for TecDoc because it is obvious that smartphone App’s are going to have a major influence in the aftermarket, particularly with the technicians who undertake the actual fitting process, many of whom are very familiar with this type of technology.” The TecDoc Parts Decoder can be downloaded for free from iTunes and the TecDoc website, but for more information about this App of TecDoc generally, please contact Shaun Greasley on: +44 (0)1829 752888 or email: shaun.greasley@tecdoc.net ENDS Notes for editors TecDoc CATALOG, the trading name of its electronic parts catalogue information, provides a multi-brand parts solution to the vehicle service industry and at present, more than 380 replacement parts brands are represented on the TecDoc data system. Available online and via DVD, the catalogue lists 2.92 million part numbers in 27 languages and provides more than 1.38 million supporting illustrations. This covers more than 44,000 car and in excess of 36,000 CV applications and TecDoc is compatible with all computer systems and software.
