The IAAF Membership starts to roll in at a pace

Garage membership of the IAAF is accelerating with the help of some committed IAAF parts distributor members. IAAF-G section manager Mike Owen commented, “We have worked tirelessly to make sure that the offering we have for the garages through membership is something that the independent garage sector has never had before and we are delighted that it is now going so well. Just like all new schemes, nothing ever happens overnight and we are pleased to see it being so warmly welcomed by our members and the industry itself and I can confirm that membership is well into the hundreds with well over a thousand more enquires as of last week.” “The help and support of our IAAF distributors has also gone a long way to helping us speed up the membership process and I am indebted to those who have taken the IAAF-G’s offer to their garage customers directly. In particular is Allparts Automotive, who have themselves brought in to date over 50 garages and they are still enrolling as they continue with their membership drive on behalf of the IAAF-G.” IAAF Chief Executive Brian Spratt said, “Mark Darvill, Allparts Automotive’s MD, marketing director Steve Patten and the rest of the team at Allparts are to be applauded for their far sighted support for the IAAF Garage section. Between their outlets they have recruited a very credible number of garages and this helps strengthen the voice and representation that the IAAF can make on behalf of the sector.” “Allparts have recognised very quickly that the parts distributors and the Independent Garages are the yin and yang of the aftermarket service provision,” states Mike Owen. “What has become obvious is that current and future activity by the vehicle manufacturers shows that it is even more important that both elements of the Independent Sector do more than work together; that they stand shoulder to shoulder to represent their common needs”. Following the very successful annual industry conference held at the Birmingham Metropole hotel it is expected that there will be increased activity by the IAAF distributors to recruit. The messages delivered at the conference made quite plain the need for co-operation between IAAF distributors and their customers - the garages. Owen is quoted as saying “If the messages delivered here today at conference motivate our distributor members to emulate the efforts of Allparts, then the IAAF Garage Section can expect to be able to bring forward its plans for the new year” Steve Patten Allparts’ marketing director added: “It’s so important to work closely with our customers. We listen to their needs and wants and it was clear to us that the IAAF-G offering was just what was required. It offers the independent garages so much more support than they are currently getting and we have already signed up 50 new members and expect to do double that total very soon. “We are totally committed to supporting this bold and exciting IAAF-G initiative, which combines the whole independent aftermarket under the same banner for the first time and provides us all with a powerful lobbying voice promoting the interests of our entire sector.” The IAAF is the Voice of the Independent Garage and is being recognised for its candour and reasoned responses to industry issues.
