Auto-electrical specialist joins the team Wood Auto, a leading auto-electrical specialist since 1929, has strengthened its sales force with the recruitment of experienced aftermarket professional Dave Hughes. Dave has spent all his working life in the automotive trade and joins as the accounts manager for the northeast, with the task of growing sales of all Wood Auto’s products to motor factors, fleet operators and local authorities. “The automotive trade is in my blood,” said Dave, “it’s the only industry I’ve really been involved in and it started as soon as I left school and took up an apprenticeship with LSUK. Once qualified, I worked as an auto-electrician within the LSUK branch networks for several years until I had the opportunity to change tack and join GKN, but this time on the wholesale side of the operation, selling aftermarket parts to independent garages and motor factors. “I stayed during the Partco takeover, but before Unipart stepped in I decided to return to my roots and I set-up an auto-electrical service business offering both workshop and mobile facilities to the trade and private motorists in the northeast. “As one of the premier suppliers to the auto-electrical industry, I have obviously known and dealt with Wood Auto for my whole career, so when I had the chance to join the company, it was an opportunity not to miss. “Although it’s early days, the response from customers has been very positive and they are genuinely impressed by both the service we can offer and the range of products that we stock.
