CEO George Alvarez to Participate in Executive Roundtable Breakfast and WiMax Operators Development Forum

SAN DIEGO, CA – September 30, 2010 – George Alvarez, CEO and director of US-based ChinaTel Group (OTCBB: CHTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband telecommunication deployments and infrastructure development, will speak on two panels at the 4G World™ conference being held October 18-21 at McCormick Place Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. During the conference, ChinaTel will further strengthen its positioning as a leader in the international wireless broadband arena by delivering key insights on the industry’s LTE evolution and the impact of WiMax worldwide.

On Wednesday, October 20, Mr. Alvarez will be a panelist for the Executive Roundtable Breakfast hosted by FierceWireless magazine.  The panel, which will run from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, is focused on the question:  “Will TD-LTE Signal the End of Mobile WiMAX?”  The facilitator of the panel will be Sue Marek, Editor-in-Chief, FierceWireless. Co-panelists include Yung H. Hahn, Director of Wireless Strategy & Ecosystem Initiatives, WPO, Intel Corporation; Monica Paolini, Founder & President, Senza Fili Consulting; and Jaikishan Rajaraman, Senior Director, GSMA.  Following the panel discussion, Mr. Alvarez will be available to meet with shareholders, the media and potential investors throughout the day at 4G World.

On Thursday, October 21, Mr. Alvarez will also be speaking as a member of the WiMax Operators Development Forum.  During this event, which will take place from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm, operators from around the world and their vendor partners will provide insight and perspective on the rewards and challenges of planning, deploying and operating fixed and mobile WiMAX networks.  Co-panelists will include Dr. Terry Ahn, Senior Vice President, KT Corp.; Ching-Tarng Hsieh, Taiwan Regional Director, WiMAX Forum; Richard Kolsby, Rocky Mountain Broadband; and Jeff Thompson, President and CEO, Towerstream.

ChinaTel holds the exclusive rights to operate wireless broadband networks in the 3.5 GHz radio frequency spectrum in the 29 largest cities in China, through a partnership with CECT-Chinacomm. Chinacomm is under a government mandate to build out and launch service in the first 12 cities in China by June 2011. Because of ChinaTel, partial deployments in key portions of the first three cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen – have already been completed. In addition, ChinaTel owns 95% of Perusat, a Peruvian telecommunications company with licenses to operate wireless broadband networks in the 2.5 GHz radio frequency spectrum in the seven targeted cities in Peru.

With up to $640 million in committed funding from the Isaac Organization, ChinaTel is firmly on course for deploying the largest WiMax network around the globe.
