Akademiska Hus uses ChromoGenics AB (publ) dynamic glass ConverLight® to provide Gothenburg’s University Library with a reliable, energy and cost efficient solar control solution. ConverLight® dynamic glass has been improving the indoor climate and energy efficiency since 2016, even when forceful winds hit the building. After a year of performance, functionality and reduced maintenance costs can be noted.

ChromoGenics’ dynamic glass ConverLight® offers property owners, architects, energy consultants, construction companies and window and facade glass operators an attractive and cost efficient solar control solution. ConverLight® increases energy efficiency and indoor comfort in real estate as well as contributes to environmental certifications of buildings, which is high on the environmental agenda for both the EU and real estate owners within their sustainability efforts.

Gothenburg University Library is owned and managed by Akademiska Hus. Akademiska Hus owns, develops and manages real estate for universities and colleges with a main focus on education and research activities. The company is wholly owned by the Swedish state and aims to be at the forefront of sustainability activities.

"This is a so-called retro-fit project where ConverLight® dynamic glass is mounted on an existing building to improve the indoor climate and energy efficiency in a sustainable way. The project started already in 2016 and we have now had positive results that our product works over time," says Thomas Almesjö, CEO of ChromoGenics.

"Our product ConverLight® controls heat and light emittance while maintaining daylight and full view to the outside world. This results in energy savings and increases the comfort and well-being of people staying in the building. To see that our dynamic glass improves the indoor climate for the students at Gothenburg University feels meaningful and important - even when windy weather hits the building. Our dynamic glasses are not impacted by hard winds and thus don’t need to be replaced like other traditional solar control solutions. This means reduced maintenance costs for the real estate owner, which is yet another important proof-point of the variety of benefits our unique product ConverLight® delivers to our customers,” concludes Thomas Almesjö.
