ChromoGenics achieves approval in important ISO 18543:2021 test
ChromoGenics product ConverLight® Dynamic shows excellent durability in the very demanding accelerated ageing ISO 18543:2021 test – an important milestone for the company.
ISO 18543 is an accelerated long-term durability aging test for electrochromic glazings in buildings. The test includes various aging factors such as high UV intensity, high temperature and high cycling frequency. The test consists of 5000h of continuous switching between clear and dark state for 30 000 cycles in high temperature and constant UV radiation, corresponding to more than 20 years of normal use.
The ISO test was performed by RISE (Research Institute of Sweden) as an independent third party. The test was started in July 2022 and completed in March 2023. The positive ISO test report confirms the excellent durability of ConverLight and the quality of its production processes.
“This ISO test stresses the material to extreme levels not seen during normal use. The test can therefore be considered unnecessarily harsh but we have nevertheless decided to pursue it. It is therefore with great pleasure we have received the positive test report from RISE. I consider this one of the major technical milestones in the history of ChromoGenics”, says Greger Gregard CTO of ChromoGenics.
“We are very proud of this result. ChromoGenics has taken great measures to quality assure the performance and durability of our products. We have been pleased with the results from our in-house testing programmes since we started our own production in June 2021. Now we also have an ISO stamp of approval from an independent accredited institute validating those results. The ISO 18543:2021 test has been requested by new and existing partners in the glass processing industry and some customers. This positive result is therefore another important step in our strategy to partner with high quality companies in the glass industry, allowing us to focus more on our core competence, i.e., the production and development of electrochromic foil.” says Fredrik Fränding, CEO of ChromoGenics.

About ChromoGenics
ChromoGenics is a proptech company producing smart dynamic glass that improves indoor environments and well-being and lowers buildings’ energy consumption, operating expenses and impact on the climate. The company’s product ConverLight® Dynamic is based on a unique patented technology from the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala, where electrochromic coatings are sputtered onto plastic film. The result is a dynamic film that can be laminated between glass layers, which provides buildings with good solar protection and lowered environmental impact from production, transport and use. The dynamic film is easy to transport and can be applied by local partners in the glass industry, which means it is possible to avoid long-distance shipping of bulky glass. All of ChromoGenics’ products strive to follow the key words environment and health. This means a focus on environmentally friendly material, lower energy consumption, increased access to daylight and views and improved indoor comfort.
The company’s production facilities in Uppsala have been financed in part by a conditional loan from the Swedish Energy Agency. ChromoGenics’ share (CHRO) is listed on Nasdaq First North Growth Market, and Vator Securities is the Certified Adviser.
