Vinnova awards a grant of SEK 4 million to Smart Multifunctional Glass project led by RISE
ChromoGenics AB (publ) will be part of a partnership for Smart Multifunctional Glass in an innovation project awarded by Vinnova. The partnership consists of RISE (coordinator), ChromoGenics AB, Inwido Sverige AB, Hancap AB, Solibro Research AB, Vasakronan AB and Volvo Personvagnar AB. The total project budget is 8 MSEK and runs from July 2018 to June 2020.
The possibilities of combining and controlling functions in glass will be explored in the Smart Multifunctional Glass project.
"There are today many technologies that provide various possible functionalities and features that are more or less mature for commercialization. What happens when you combine them and how can they be best utilized? "says Jerry Eriksson, researcher at RISE, heading the Smart Multifunctional Glass project.
The project focuses on developing a multifunctional solar control product that is unique in the market and is well in line with society's long-term goals for energy saving and sustainable solutions. In a multidisciplinary partnership, various prototypes of multifunctional glass and integrated smart electronic control systems are developed, tested and evaluated. The end product can be implemented in building automation systems, smart homes or within the automotive industry.
"A successful project enables the base for a whole new product range that can be tailored to customer needs and offer unique solutions that do not exist on the market today," says Jerry Eriksson.
The Smart Multifunctional Glass research project is funded by the Strategic Innovation Program Smarter Electronics System, which is a joint venture of Vinnova, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency.
