Copenhagen Scientologists Walk for Peace
Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Denmark were among the hundreds of peace-loving Danes who marched in PeaceWalk on International Peace Day.
Hundreds participated in Copenhagen’s PeaceWalk September 21, 2013, an event organized by Your Global Heart (Tænk Med Hjertet) and Youth for Human Rights Denmark.
Hundreds filled the streets of Copenhagen September 21 to take part in PeaceWalk, an International Peace Day event organized by Your Global Heart (Tænk Med Hjertet) and Youth for Human Rights, the human rights initiative supported by the Church of Scientology.
The crowd gathered at Parliament and an exuberant throng of peace-loving Danes walked from there to Nørrebrohallen, the public culture and sports hall in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen. They carried banners, signs and Youth for Human Rights placards bearing articles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
At Nørrebrohallen, the PeaceWalk marchers and hundreds more attended an International Peace Day rally, featuring a concert and panel discussion.
The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the belief that “the inherent dignity and…equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.” The Youth for Human Rights panelist described the importance of educating youth on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to empower the next generation with the knowledge needed to make peace a reality.
“With so many different groups and people coming together, it really was a great day for peace,” said Liv Bangspo Petersen, founder of Your Global Heart. “We enjoy working with Youth for Human Rights and hope that the Church of Scientology will continue to support their work for peace and human rights.”
Scientologists on five continents engage in collaborative efforts with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to bring about broad-scale awareness and implementation of the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the world’s premier human rights document.

Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “Human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream,” and the Scientology religion is based on the principles of human rights. The Code of a Scientologist calls on all members of the religion to dedicate themselves “to support true humanitarian endeavors in the fields of human rights.”
