Meet a Scientologist--Emmett Osborn a Truly Affable Guy
If you were to see Emmett Osborn performing his cooking show at a home show or fair, and stopped to watch and listen for awhile, you would learn almost as much about him as the cookware he’s demonstrating. This is a truly nice and funny guy.
“My basic purpose is to raise the tone of the people around me,” he says.
And wife Alison, who works the cooking show circuit with him, agrees, saying if she ever loses track of his location, she can always track him by following the laughter that surrounds him.
Being so good natured, Osborn didn’t particularly think there was anything he wanted to change or fix in his life—he never had a problem he couldn’t solve. But when he read Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health it opened an entirely new world for him.
“I thought ‘this is interesting’ and decided to check it out,” he says.
In his first Dianetics counseling, he encountered a moment of intense pain and unconsciousness he never thought he could remember. At the end, various aches and pains that had always been there were gone, and he suddenly had an entirely new perspective on life.
“Sure, I was doing well, making tons of money selling high-end computer systems to large companies. But what about the daily pressures and vagaries of life? I suddenly realized there was something you could do about all that,” says Osborn.
Osborn decided to train as Scientology Counselor.
“That really stabilized my life, because now I could understand how life worked. Scientology training answered questions I didn’t even know I had. It helped make every relationship I had a hundred times better,” he says.
In fact, it was while doing this training that he met his wife. Alison was training as an auditor as well.
“Alison is the love of my life,” says Osborn. “It would be impossible to express how much Scientology has helped with our marriage. Many of our friends and acquaintances come to us to find out what we do to make our marriage so good. Now, with free online courses on the Scientology Handbook, we can send them right to the Scientology website where they can learn how they can do it too.”
Osborn also credits Scientology with making his work much more fun.
“Every day, Ali and I put on a series of 1 1/2-hour cooking shows—I do one, then she does one, and so on throughout the day. The communication skills I learned in Scientology give me the ability to interchange and interface with a live audience of any size. It is effortless,” he says. “Scientology makes life ridiculously easy, fun and exciting.”
