For the past 10 years, Scientologists in an annual Drug-Free “Cyclorun” have run and bicycled for a drug-free Czech Republic.

Scientologists volunteering on the annual Drug-Free Czech Cyclorun give drug education lectures to children and teens in the towns and cities they visit.

For two weeks each summer, volunteers from Scientology Missions in the Czech Republic crisscross the country in the Drug-Free Czech Republic “Cyclorun” to promote drug-free living.

The athletes meet with officials to brief them on the Truth About Drugs educational program, hold drug education and prevention training sessions for police officers and social workers, and organize rallies, concerts and drug education lectures in city squares and sports stadiums. People of all ages participate and pledge to live drug-free, and local mayors proclaim the day an official “Day Against Drugs.”

Summer 2012 marked the 10th annual Drug-Free Cyclorun and also saw the cumulative distribution of more than a quarter-million copies of the Truth About Drugs booklets in the country. During the two-week campaign, volunteers conducted drug education lectures for 6,000 children and youth.

In each of the 41 cities volunteers visited in 2012, city representatives signed a “Say No to Drugs” declaration, which the volunteers then presented to the Senate, demonstrating grassroots support throughout the republic for drug education and prevention.

The Church of Scientology has published Scientology: How We Help—The Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World, a brochure to meet requests for more information about the drug education and prevention initiative it supports. Throughout the Czech Republic, youth, like these skaters in the town of Beroun, joined in the activities of the Drug-Free Czech Cyclorun.

Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”

The Church of Scientology supports the Truth About Drugs, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
