More than 3,000 athletes competed in the 12th annual Say No to Drugs Holiday Classic Race at Universal Studios last week and came home with a complimentary copy of The Truth About Drugs booklet in their gift bags.
Simply by entering the race, those running take a stand in support of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Truth About Drugs booklets provide them with a tool to spread that message to their friends and families.
Held on the backlot of Universal Studios, the race took the runners on a unique excursion through the scenes of iconic movies: past the Bates Motel from Psycho, the Jaws “lake,” Dr. Suess’s mythical Whoville, the 747 crash site from War of the Worlds and the Hollywood versions of Mexico and New York City.
Runners competed in 5 and 10K races. A Kiddie Fun Run, 5K Fun Walk, pancake breakfast, raffle, and race awards presentation rounded out the morning’s activities.
Volunteers from local Scientology churches set up a Truth About Drugs booth where those attending were invited to pick up extra copies of the Truth About Drugs booklet for their friends. Based on 25 years of drug education and prevention experience, the booklet presents the facts about commonly used drugs—why people take drugs, how drugs work, and their short- and long-term effects on the body and mind.
The Church of Scientology has published a new brochure, Scientology: How We Help—The Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World, to meet requests for more information about the drug education and prevention initiative it supports. About How We Help—the Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World
Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”
The Church of Scientology supports the Truth About Drugs, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
