More than 400 educators participated in the first The Way to Happiness Educators’ Convention at Santa Maria University in Caracas, Venezuela, June 1, 2013, where they learned to conduct character education classes based on The Way to Happiness.
Written by author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, The Way to Happiness is a nonreligious moral code based entirely on common sense. Immensely popular since its first publication in 1981, more than 100 million copies of the booklet have been distributed in 205 countries and territories.
The booklet has been praised by educators for providing “solid, practical methods for solving the problems students face while growing up, by giving them the clear-cut difference between right and wrong,” and for fostering “mutual respect and tolerance for individual differences in others.”
To enable the teachers to help their students grasp the book’s 21 precepts and put them to use in their lives, 440 high school teachers and university professors were introduced to The Way to Happiness Educator’s Resource Kit and its interactive curriculum consisting of:
- Lesson plans designed for teens and young adults that incorporate the 21 precepts of The Way to Happiness
- Public service announcements that introduce each of the precepts
- The Way to Happiness booklets
- The feature-length The Way to Happiness book on film
- Posters that illustrate each of the precepts, and
- Assessment tools provided to track improvements and changes in student attitudes and actions.
The entire interactive curriculum is also accessible online through a virtual classroom at The Way to Happiness website and The Way to Happiness Online Education App for iPad and iPhone.
The Church of Scientology and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness with all who work to build a better world. For more information, visit the Scientology website at http://www.Scientology.org/thewaytohappiness.
