CIBSE ‘Training for Building Performance Award’ highlights growing importance of knowledge and skills for engineering ‘excellent buildings’

9th July 2012

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has just announced the categories for its Building Performance Awards 2013.  Training and development throughout the whole of the built environment is receiving considerable attention, not least due to greater recognition of the need to deliver energy efficient buildings, and the Awards will recognise this.

The Training for Building Performance Award is presented to the organisation that can demonstrate how a training initiative, innovation or programme has had a significant effect upon staff skills and development, resulting in a positive impact on the performance of buildings.

Knowledge sharing is very much part of the ethos of CIBSE, therefore this Award has considerable significance. The Judges will be looking for entries which demonstrate clear objectives and outcomes and how an organisation has used training and development to further the use and to apply low carbon and sustainable technologies in their business.

The CIBSE Building Performance Awards, which focus on actual, measured performance, not design intent or performance specifications, are judged by a panel of experts and industry leaders from a number of complementary spheres within the built environment.

Companies, individuals and organisations are invited to enter one or more of the Awards’ categories. The full list of categories for the 2013 Awards are:
