HRH The Princess Royal praises work of Aspire and CILT
HRH The Princess Royal has praised the work of Aspire, the CILT careers foundation, in enabling people in developing countries to further their career in transport, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in promoting its international message.
Speaking in London on Friday, at the annual Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Fellows’ Lunch, the Princess Royal emphasised the success the UK-based foundation has had in helping people overseas advance their career and furthering the essential development of talent and experience in developing countries. She noted that it’s sometimes harder to raise the profile of such an organisation here in the UK, than in those countries where it actually does most of its work, and praised CILT for its consistent support and development of the scheme.
She also praised CILT’s new international branding, which unifies its aims and standards in over 100 countries worldwide. Commenting on the Institute’s new motto ‘Stronger Together’ the Princess Royal, who is Patron of the CILT in the UK, said it was a clear and obvious message that pulled together members of the Institute across the world, and ensured its important work achieves an international profile.
The sell-out event, held in the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, was attended by many of the UK’s leading transport and supply chain professionals, and hosted by CILT’s President, Jim Steer. Over £2,600 was raised for Aspire at the lunch. As one attendee, Unipart’s Paul Brooks FCILT, said after the lunch: ‘It was a great endorsement of everything good about being a CILT member.’
