Cision’s 2010 Holiday Gift Guide Directory Gives UsersKey Advantage in Securing Media Coverage
Communicators Urged to Act Now to Meet Deadlines for Inclusion in End-of-Year Gift Guides
CHICAGO, June 30, 2010 – Cision, the leading provider of software, services and tools for the media and public relations industry, today announced its 2010 Holiday Gift Guide directory, giving users of the Cision Media Database a critical early jump on securing coverage in holiday gift editions of major media outlets.
The directory contains comprehensive information from the Cision Media Database on thousands of editorial calendar opportunities related to holiday gift giving, including complete outlet information, media contact profiles, deadlines, pitching tips, and gift-guide formats.
Users can search for opportunities by topic, DMA, deadline date and a variety of other criteria to create a target list of outlets and opportunities. The list includes top-tier general interest and niche publications including AARP – The Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, Elle, Esquire, Family Circle, Food & Wine, Parents, People, Popular Mechanics, Us, Vanity Fair, Women’s Day, and many others.
“Editors tell us that the holiday gift guides are excellent ways for new products to find their audiences, and for PR professionals to build new relationships with outlets and journalists,” said Heidi Sullivan, Cision’s vice president, media research. “But you need to act today. Long-lead deadlines are looming in July for many Christmas and Hanukkah-themed gift sections, so you need to know now who to approach, how to approach them, and what they need.”
In addition to comprehensive gift guide data for subscribers, Cision also announced free resources for communicators who need to secure holiday gift media coverage.
The free 2010 Gift Guide Editorial Calendar includes data from 100 of the editorial calendar opportunities offered in the Cision database, with detailed information on deadlines, lead times, circulation and issue dates. In addition, 25 contact profiles for holiday gift guide sections at the most visible and most circulated magazines are included as well. The Navigator, Cision’s online newsletter, has published a list of the top ten magazines (by circulation) that have an editorial contact for holiday guide-related material. Best practices and expert tips will also be discussed on the Cision Blog.
The information is based on the Cision Media Database. Updated 18,000 times every day, the database contains hundreds of thousands of editorial calendars, forward features, and conference and trade show opportunities worldwide.
“No other supplier of media information can match the size and comprehensiveness of Cision’s annual gift guide directory, or the array of other information services about editorial opportunities and best practices that we provide,” Ms. Sullivan said.
