Citi Appoints Karolina Burmeister as Head of Commercial Banking for the Nordics
Nordics: Citi today announced the appointment of Karolina Burmeister as Head of its Commercial Banking business in the Nordics. Karolina, who is currently Country Head for Citi in Finland, will relocate to Stockholm to run the commercial banking business and lead its growth plans in the region.
Citi Commercial Bank’s (CCB) primary purpose is to support medium sized companies as they expand into new markets. This client segment is an important area of focus for Citi. In Western Europe and specifically the Nordics there is significant potential given the stability, high levels of innovation and international ambitions of many fast-growing mid-sized companies based in the region.
“To drive the next stage of growth in the Nordics, we are pleased to announce Karolina’s appointment in the region. Her leadership of Citi in Finland, as well as her depth of client experience will help propel CCB Nordics to further increase our coverage across all four Nordic countries,” said Auke Leenstra, Western Europe Head of Citi Commercial Bank.
“Citi serves clients in 160 countries and is the most global bank in the Nordics. By leveraging our global network and international capabilities, we have a clear competitive differentiator for all our clients in the region, especially the fast-growing digital and mid-sized companies, who are looking to scale their businesses globally. I’m delighted to take over this role for our commercial bank business in the Nordics,” said Karolina Burmeister.
Prior to joining Citi in 2018, Karolina had extensive experience in the Nordic market, having worked with large multinational corporations and institutions in Finland for 25 years in various banking roles. Karolina replaces Mariève Gauthier, who has taken on new responsibilities within Citi.
