Citizen CT-S601 increases productivity for Lithuanian Post
The Citizen CT-S601 printer has been rolled out by the hundred to secure greater productivity for Lietuvos Paštas (Lithuanian Post), the country’s largest postal services company.
As the provider of postal, courier and logistics services to more than 800,000 customers per month, Lithuanian Post needs to work with fast, modern and reliable equipment. To ensure provision of the best possible service, the company recently decided to invest in an equipment modernization programme. This meant upgrading or replacing equipment at 735 stationary post offices and 135 points of service visited by the company’s mobile post offices.
Company RASO, a local provider of retail, manufacturing, logistics hardware and software, was tasked with specifying equipment for the modernization and one of the key requirements of the operation was to provide simple, fast and effective printing. This is where Citizen Systems Europe came in. Citizen offers a full range of label, POS and mobile printers that deliver fast, reliable, high quality output using machinery that is strong, simple to operate and requires minimal maintenance. Whatever the challenge, Citizen has the solution and RASO found the right specification for Lithuania Post in Citizen’s range of compact printers for retail POS.
The Citizen CT-S601, a full-function, mid-range POS printer, was chosen for its speed, ease of use and print quality. Capable of print speeds of up to 200mm/sec, with high resolution from a tough, long-life thermal printhead, the CT-S601 incorporates an integrated power supply, self-retracting cutter and an ergonomic front paper exit. Citizen pioneered the spillproof front-exit printer and continues to set the standard for this design.
Ričardas Tamašiūnas, Head Of Sales, RASO, explained further why the CT-S601 was such a successful choice. “The CT-S601 has increased productivity and profitability for Lithuanian Post because it delivers faster printing at reduced expense, compared to the dot printers used before. The CT-S601 is a thermal printer and thus demands a lower cost in terms of paper and ribbons compared with dot printers. Using the CT-S601 has also decreased the noise level in the workplace, and improved reliability.”
There was also another major reason for selecting the CT-S601, as Ričardas Tamašiūnas explained. “Lithuania is a fiscal country, so any solution must incorporate fiscal printing. A fiscal printer is a device used most commonly at the point of sale in a commercial environment. It has a fiscal memory containing all the necessary information that the business is required to present to the tax authorities, making accounting easier and more accurate. Company RASO therefore had to ensure that the new equipment would be able to deliver fiscal printing. The CT-S601 proved compatible with this and because the total solution could be integrated with the existing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, Lithuanian Post avoided the major expense of making changes to the system. The Citizen CT-S601 has been a key element of a cost-effective solution that has met all the needs of Lithuanian Post.”
Thanks to the CT-S601, Lithuanian Post has boosted productivity, cut costs and achieved the required equipment upgrade with the minimum of disruption, bringing the best possible return on investment.
