CityMail develops its service and expands geographically CityMail, which has been changing and redefining the postal market in Sweden since 1991, is preparing for the new millennium by adapting its services to the changing needs of its customers. In addition, the company will expand extensively in Malmö and Gothenburg. Commencing in the new year, CityMail's service will be expanded to offer customers mail delivery every day of the week. The rate of delivery for a mailing will be the three days after the posting date, evenly distributed over these days. The purpose of this change is, among other things, to adapt CityMail's service to the changes which have occurred in customers' needs. According to studies which CityMail has carried out, this mainly calls for distributing post with 100% precision and reliability on the guaranteed days, regardless of the day of the week. CityMail is simultaneously carrying out changes in the logistics system which will result in shorter processing times and more secure flows. As a result, the flow of mail in CityMail's distribution will be significantly more evenly allocated, thereby resulting in improved capacity utilisation. As a consequence of these changes, the company is overhauling its organisation and structure. Union negotiations have started and are expected to be completed by the end of the year. The new working method will be implemented in the new year, after which CityMail intends to carry out an expansion to approximately 600,000 households in Malmö and Gothenburg. As a result, CityMail's coverage area will be approximately 50% larger than it is today.
