Attorney Ray J. Koenig III Named Head of Clark Hill PLC Chicago

CHICAGO, IL – Attorney Ray J. Koenig III has been named the Managing Member of Clark Hill PLC’s Chicago office, CEO John Hern announced today. Koenig is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, and is a well-known civic activist and leader in the Chicago community.  

“We are pleased to announce that Ray has agreed to serve in this leadership role for our Chicago office,” Hern said. “Ray is an accomplished attorney, and has demonstrated impressive leadership skills during his time with Clark Hill. In addition to his role as the Managing Member of Clark Hill Chicago, Koenig is also a member of the Litigation Practice Group and Chair of the Trusts & Estates Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association and past Chair of the section Legislation Committee. The Trusts & Estates Section is the third largest section of the Illinois State Bar Association. Koenig is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Member of the Task Force on Unauthorized Practice of Law, American Bar Association: past Committee Vice-Chair within the Section on Probate (RPPT), Chicago Bar Association, LAGBAC, Chicago Estate Planning Council and the Clark Hill PLC Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Koenig has been recognized by Law & Politics Magazine’s Super Lawyers publication as a Rising Star for 2010 and 2011, an honor bestowed upon only 5% of the attorneys in his peer group. He was the only Illinois attorney recognized as such in the Trust and Estate Litigation category for both years.

Koenig is an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School. He teaches an elder law course with topics including guardianship, advance directives, discrimination actions, ethical issues in determining competence and cognitivity, elder abuse, and end of life issues and is a frequent contributor to Clark Hill's Estate, Trust, and Guardianship Controversies Blog, where he posts entries about current issues and events relevant to estate, trust, and guardianship litigation.

He practices in the areas of probate litigation, trust litigation, fiduciary litigation, elder law, estate planning, and estate administration, with an emphasis on will, trust, guardianship, and advance directive contests and other fiduciary litigation. Koenig has represented individuals, families, financial institutions, medical institutions, and governmental organizations in all areas of his practice. Koenig has extensive trial, appellate and mediation experience in state and federal courts.
