European commission to grant €5M for research aimed to introduce solar thermal into industries

Europeiska kommissionen beviljar 5 miljoner euro till forskningsprojekt för solvärme i industrin

Industrial Solar and Absolicon are both winners within the “FRIENDSHIP” consortium, granted 5million Euro in a research project funded by EU to increase the market for solar thermal in industrial processes.

Industrial Solar och Absolicon är båda vinnare när konsortiet "FRIENDSHIP" beviljas 5 miljoner euro i ett forskningsprojekt finansierat av EU för att öka marknaden för solvärme i industriella processer.  

The European commission has identified that heating industrial processes is a vital part of the low carbon energy economy and has offered research grants to companies and institutions. As the winning research proposals are revealed, Industrial Solar and Absolicon are both beneficiaries in the granted Horizon 2020 project “FRIENDSHIP”. The total funding volume is €5 million.

The consortium is led by the French institute CEA, the other members being Industrial Solar, Absolicon, RINA, SINTEF, NICS, AMIRES, COG, INES Formation, Clariant Produkte and Sonae.

The aim of the FRIENDSHIP project is to increase the temperature delivered to industrial processes by combining several technologies such as concentrating solar thermal technologies, heat pumps, highly efficient absorption chillers and combined storage.

Industrial Solar is granted 456.000 € and will work on intelligent integration of its linear Fresnel collector technology providing high temperature heat up to 300 °C. The financing from EU is covering 100% of the costs plus 25% overhead.

Europeiska kommissionen har identifierat uppvärmning i industriella processer som en betydande del i en ”low carbon energy-economy” och har erbjudit forskningsmedel till företag och institutioner.  När de vinnande forskningsförslagen nu offentliggörs är Absolicon och Industrial Solar båda deltagare i det beviljade Horizon 2020-projektet " FRIENDSHIP ". Det totala projektet är ca 5 miljoner euro (ca 50 miljoner svenska kronor).  

Konsortiet leds av det franska institutet CEA och övriga medlemmarna är Imndustrial Solar, Absolicon, RINA, SINTEF, NICS, AMIRES, COG, INES Formation, Clariant Produkte och Sonae.  

Målet med "FRIENDSHIP" är skapa lösningar som kan generera höga temperaturer till industriella processer genom att kombinera olika teknologier som koncentrerande solfångare, värmepumpar, högeffektiva absorptionskylemaskiner kombinerat med energilager.  

Industrial Solar beviljas 456 000 euro (ca 4,5 miljoner svenska kronor) och skall arbeta med integration av sin teknologi för Fresnel solfångare för att generera temperaturer upp till 300°C.  

Finansieringen från EU täcker 100% av kostnaderna + 25% omkostnader.
