Report this content

Today, Industrial Solar was granted a total of 237 k€ (2.37 mSEK) for a R&D project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The project JOSSI aims to push the market introduction of solar steam generation for industrial processes in Jordan.

The project consortium of the R&D project JOSSI – comprising Industrial Solar, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Helmholz Center Dresden-Rossendorf and their Jordanian partners the University of Jordan, the Middle East University, the National University College of Technology, Amman Chamber of Industry and Najjar & Rawas Company – received the approval of their application today. Start date of the 3-year project is 15 December 2021.
Solar process steam is a key technology for the industrial decarbonization and is an explicit action item of the latest strategic energy action plan in Jordan.
The objective of the JOSSI project is to foster the uptake of solar process steam utilization in industrial processes through research and development (R&D) as well as dissemination and capacity building, especially in Jordan.
The main focus of the project partners is on an improved understanding of water-steam flow in solar collectors, the provision of reliable long-term yield data for solar steam generation in industrial applications, improved monitoring methods through and capacity building in the academic sector as well as the industrial sector.

The total budget for JOSSI, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, amounts to 1.1 m€ (11 mSEK) of which 237 k€ (2.37 mSEK) are granted to Industrial Solar, with a funding rate of 50%.
