Clean Motion AB is participating in Wavecomps, a new research and innovation project funded by Vinnova under the Circularity FFI programme. The project, coordinated by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, runs from June 2026 to January 2029 and has been awarded a total of SEK 4,951,900 in funding. Clean Motion's share amounts to SEK 813,000.

Wavecomps brings together a cross-industry consortium of Swedish companies with the aim of repurposing composite sandwich panels currently handled as production waste into structural components and storage units for light electric vehicles. In addition to Clean Motion and RISE, the consortium includes Podcomp, DIAB and Luvly.

For Clean Motion, the project represents an opportunity to explore how reclaimed composite materials can be used in light electric vehicles, and to contribute to establishing a scalable circular value chain for composites in the mobility sector. The project is expected to reduce material waste by at least 50 percent and the use of virgin raw materials by at least 30 percent, with a projected reduction in climate impact of 20 to 35 percent.

“We already use sandwich composite materials in EVIG today, and through Wavecomps we will explore the possibility of keeping those materials in a circular loop rather than letting the residual material become waste. This is fully in line with our philosophy and represents a meaningful contribution to sustainable manufacturing", says William Collings, CTO at Clean Motion AB.

The project is funded under Fordonsstrategisk Forskning och Innovation (FFI), a joint research and innovation programme between the Swedish government and the automotive industry.
