HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will visit Gothenburg on 5 May to receive an honorary award from the Swedish-founded animal and nature organisation, The Perfect World Foundation. HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco becomes the ninth recipient of "The Perfect World Foundation Award", previous winners include; Sir David Attenborough (2018), Greta Thunberg (2019), and Dr Jane Goodall (2015). HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco is awarded the 2022 award for his commitment to protecting our oceans.

The award ceremony takes place during a star-studded support gala, "The Arctic Ocean Gala", at the Gothenburg Stock Exchange, where accredited media are given a photo opportunity and the opportunity for interviews with several Swedish and internationally known profiles. HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will also during his visit to Gothenburg inaugurate The Perfect World Foundation's latest project (Project Ocean) which aims to spread knowledge about, locate, salvage and recycle ghost nets and other lost fishing equipment in our seas. In the Gothenburg Botanical Garden, Prince Albert will also plant a tree as a symbol of the importance of the urgent need to replant 3,000 billion trees according to the IPCC's reports. Sir David Attenborough planted the organisation's first tree in Gothenburg's botanical garden in 2018.

Prince Albert inaugurates the project to save our seas

  • HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco inaugurates The Perfect World Foundation's offshore project, "Project Ocean", which aims to salvage ghost nets and lost fishing equipment from our seas. During the inauguration, there are divers, fishing boats and people working to pick up ghost nets, and lost fishing equipment from the seas. Experts and ambassadors for The Perfect World Foundation will also be present during the inauguration. The purpose of the inauguration is to highlight problems in our seas, and spread knowledge about, location, salvage and recycling of ghost nets and other lost fishing equipment in our seas.

 Prince Albert plants a tree in Gothenburg's botanical garden

  • Location: Gothenburg Botanical Garden
  • “Attenborough Forest” is The Perfect World Foundation's global tree planting initiative - named in honor of Sir David Attenborough, after he planted the forest's symbolic first tree in Gothenburg's Botanical Garden in 2018. On 5 May 2022, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will also plant a tree in the Gothenburg Botanical Garden in order to draw attention to The Perfect World Foundation's work to promote biodiversity.

  • The gala is visited by several famous guests such as; HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Sarah Ferguson , Duchess of York, Victoria Silvstedt.

  • Sarah, Duchess of York awards HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco "The Perfect World Foundation Award 2022". Prince Albert gives a five-minute speech of thanks on stage during the evening.

About the "The Perfect World Foundation Award"

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco becomes the ninth recipient of the honorary award, "The Perfect World Foundation Award". The prize is awarded annually to a person who has made a significant contribution to, and increased, the global awareness of the importance of protecting our wildlife, our nature and the environment. HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco is awarded the 2022 award for his commitment and work in protecting our oceans. In connection with the award ceremony, The Perfect World Foundation arranges its annual support gala.
