Symsoft, a division of CLX Communications, signs global agreement with SAP to provide mobile operators with SMS Firewall solution
Stockholm, Feb 9th, 2016
CLX Communications’ (Nasdaq Stockholm: CLX) operator division, Symsoft, announced today a global software license and distribution agreement for embedded products with SAP SE (NYSE:SAP). The agreement enables SAP to deliver the Symsoft SMS Firewall solution to mobile operators. The solution, combined with the services SAP offers to telco carriers, is designed to enhance the protection of mobile operator networks.
The market for text messaging is changing for mobile operators globally. The enterprise messaging (A2P SMS) opportunity is growing, with messaging revenues from enterprises expected to overtake traditional subscriber messaging revenues in the foreseeable future. In an increasingly complex ecosystem with new market entrants, there is an urgent need for mobile network operators to control their network to protect their mobile subscribers from fraud and illicit traffic, and to monetize the enterprise messaging opportunity. However, many mobile operator networks are still not fully protected.
SAP has broad experience in successfully delivering solutions and services to mobile network operators globally. The global agreement signed with Symsoft supports SAP’s ongoing commitment to protect and enhance the mobile operator ecosystem.
The agreement includes a complete SMS Firewall solution, providing mobile operators with:
- Extensive protection of SMS fraud cases
- Monetization of A2P SMS, which can help improve the operators’ bottom line
The agreement also includes firewall update services with recurring updates of firewall rules, supporting protection of current fraud cases and effective handling of new fraud cases. The SMS Firewall is a fully managed solution, offering efficiencies, know-how and manpower savings to mobile operators.
“We are very excited about the global agreement with SAP,” said Johan Rosendahl, managing director for Symsoft. “Our extensive SMS Firewall solution, together with SAP’s strong market presence and in-depth industry knowledge, provides a best-of-breed solution for mobile operators. We can confidently address existing needs globally to strengthen mobile network security and improve monetization of the important A2P SMS channel.”
Sethu M, president, SAP Mobile Services, said, “SAP's expertise in the enterprise-to-consumers and people-to-people messaging business has helped us create the SAP SMS Firewall 365 mobile service, which identifies unsolicited SMS traffic and helps operators drive revenue. Our collaboration with Symsoft combines our SMS interconnect expertise and Symsoft’s fraud management capabilities, and puts us in a partnership position with mobile operators to help them offset network investment with financial return.”
