Membership of the Torbay Hi Tech Forum is expected to surge after the upcoming Manufacturing, Technology and Innovation 2013 (MTI 13) conference to be held in Torquay later this month.

Organisers of the event, the Torbay Development Agency, will use the momentum of the conference to strengthen the sector’s regional and national voice within this highly competitive industry and create international profile.

Delegates from advanced manufacturing and engineering companies from across the South West and further afield are counting down to the 2013 Hi Tech Forum conference, which takes place at the Riviera International Centre, Torquay on 24th October 2013.

Now in its third year, the conference is firmly established as an essential event for hi tech companies determined to thrive in this challenging global environment. It brings together industry leaders from across the UK, who will share the strategies behind their national and international business successes.

As well as hearing how these companies have built and maintained successful business operations in countries such as India, China, and the USA, delegates will have the opportunity to explore the fresh approaches and supply chain opportunities that can move their business to the next level.

After the conference, many delegates are expected to go on to join the Torbay Hi Tech Forum, to capitalise on future opportunities to collaborate with similar innovative and hi tech businesses and become part of the regional driving force behind this growing sector.

Martin Foulger, Hi Tech Forum Chair and divisional MD of Spirent described how the conference was an eye-opener for many delegates. “We find that delegates are impressed by the strength and collaboration behind the hi tech sector in South Devon and want to become more involved.

“The conference is an unbeatable opportunity for companies to network and gain knowledge that can be vital to business growth. Delegates go on to become members of the Torbay Hi Tech Forum, which can provide a real boost to hi tech and manufacturing companies, offering access to supply chain opportunities, advanced skills, expertise and even equipment or project funding.”

Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver, agreed that this was part of the policy behind setting up the Forum. “Membership of an organisation like this provides a direct connection with leaders within this sector, opening up supply chain opportunities as well as providing a knowledge network.

“It provides a unified voice for the sector, which is fundamental to driving the interests of these businesses across the region and nationally. Through the forum, we are shaping the environment to assist our existing companies to grow and thus at the same time creating the right environment for inward investors to the sector.”

Attendance at the MTI Conference is free; delegates should register in advance at: www.torbaydevelopmentagency.co.uk/mti13
