COD – PURCHASE OF BREEDING PROGRAM FROM MARINBREED AS

Codfarmers ASA (”Codfarmers”) has after negotiations with the administrators in the estate and the mortgagees following the bankruptcy in Marinbreed AS entered into an agreement to take over Marinbreed AS’ breeding program with all data, broodstock and breeding groups free of charge. The fish will shortly be transferred to Codfarmers’ facilities for broodstock, hatchery and juveniles in Mørkvedbukta outside Bodø.

Following the purchase, Codfarmers has secured full control of the whole production cycle within cod farming. Codfarmers has its own broodstock which delivers eggs to 4 releases annually, and the company has also 2 hatchery facilities with enough capacity to deliver hatchery to the company’s 2 juveniles facilities. This gives a robust ability to deliver to the company’s farming facilities in Nordland, Sunnmøre and Sogn og Fjordane.

Considerable resources has been invested in Marinbreed AS’ breeding program and the progress that Codfarmers experiences regarding improved growth on the company’s biomass is a result of a good breeding program. It is central that this is maintained in order to take out the biological potential for the cod. Consequently, the agreement is of great strategically importance for Codfarmers.
