ANGELA BAIER TO BE THE NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF COLLEGEINVEST & COLLEGE ASSIST

Denver – Lt. Governor Joe Garcia announced today that Angela Baier will become the new Chief Executive Officer of CollegeInvest and College Assist. CollegeInvest administers Colorado’s 529 college savings program. College Assist is the state’s Federal Student Loan Guarantee Agency. Ms. Baier most recently served as the Interim Director of CollegeInvest and College Assist and was selected to take on this role in a full-time and permanent capacity.

“I am very pleased that, after years of work with CollegeInvest, Ms. Baier can continue her service as its new CEO” said Lt. Governor Garcia, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, “Angela has a unique understanding of the financial challenges that exist for college bound students and the need to continue to expand, market, and make available CollegeInvests’ vital 529 saving plans that help make the dream of college a reality for Colorado families.”

Since 2009, Baier has been responsible for managing Colorado’s 529 College Savings program representing over $4.3 billion in assets under management and more than 350,000 families. She brings 25 years of senior level management, business development, and marketing expertise to her position.

Baier’s diverse career consists of 18 years in nonprofit leadership, including serving as CEO of The New York State Zoo.   She also served as a Hickenlooper Mayoral Appointee for the City & County of Denver and has previously work experience with the Denver Zoo and Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

In the community, Baier is actively involved with several nonprofit organizations, was part of Mayor Hickenlooper and Mayor Hancock’s transition teams, and is a Leadership Denver alumna.

She earned her B.S. in marketing from the University of Kansas.
