Coloplast, the global medical devices company based in Peterborough, cooked up a lunchtime treat for staff last week.

Sarah Cook and John England of Riverford Organic Foods, which is based just outside Peterborough, joined the Coloplast catering team to conjure up some healthy lunchtime options including Beetroot Haters Soup, Sorrel Tart, and Organic Roast Vegetable Pizza with Riverford’s recipe for the tomato sauce.

Coloplast holds regular ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions for staff covering different themes from career development to ones such as this, based on encouraging healthy living.

Coloplast HR director Sam Sedwill said: “Our ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions are just one small way in which we support staff learning and development programmes. Coloplast invests a record three times the UK national average in these types of programmes and we are rightly proud of this.”

Joining in with this week’s session was Daria Klepacka who said: “I have tried some foods I would not have thought of before and the session proved to me just how easy it is to prepare a healthy option rather than just grabbing a sandwich and chocolate bar!”

Activities such as this, together with the company’s more formal programmes, help to drive forward its continuing high performance and results-based culture. It is this culture which ensures Coloplast is consistently listed as one of the ‘Times Top 100 Companies to Work For’ and that it continues to have the best reputation among the industry's 28 leading medical device companies, according to a survey by the independent research organisation PatientView.
