It’s been a very special week for Lintbells, the Hertfordshire based maker of high quality natural pet supplements. On Thursday 14th, Founding Directors, John Davies and John Howie were invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of being awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in Innovation 2016. It was a landmark moment for the pair who only established the business in 2006 and have seen it grow from strength to strength.

John Davies described how their first Royal contact was with Prince Michael of Kent who, as patron of the Kennel Club and Battersea Dogs home, expressed great interest in the Lintbells business, while also allaying the slight touch of nerves the two Johns were experiencing. John Davies says, “We then talked with the Duke of Edinburgh about his love of horses before we were approached by one of the Princess Royal’s staff and told the Princess wanted to talk with us.” What followed was an in-depth conversation about gut bacteria, probiotics and horse health and a glimpse of the Queen.

John describes the experience as ‘humbling’ and it was without doubt a very special moment in the history of the Lintbells’ business, “We would not have believed this would ever have happened to us when we started the Lintbells journey. It’s down to the incredibly hard work of the whole team and it means the world to us to be recognised in the innovation category. We just feel even more driven now to build this unique and special business called Lintbells.”

In September, Lintbells receives the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire at its offices where there will be a formal presentation of the award, giving all the team a chance to celebrate this most prestigious of awards.
