Componenta invests in Turkey to reduce dust emissions
Componenta has decided to invest in induction melting furnaces in the Orhangazi foundry to guarantee efficiency of melting and sufficient molten metal at the same time when the environmental load caused by melting reduces. The current two arc furnaces will be replaced by a dual track induction furnace.
The investment of EUR 2 million in a new induction furnace of the newest technology brings both economical and environmental benefits by improving operational efficiency, reducing energy usage and operating costs and decreasing emissions into the air clearly below the levels required by the legislation and authorities.
The melting capacity will not change but amount of dust emitted to the environment will decrease by 60% which is also in line with Componenta’s strategy on protection of environment and best use of energy sources.
The furnace investment is part of the total production capacity increasing investments which are ongoing in the Orhangazi foundry. The production capacity will be increased by 40,000 ton to 180,000 ton/year by investments in melting, moulding, and core making to improve the production flow and remove ”bottle necks”. After the renovation the biggest moulding line in the Orhangazi foundry is the most modern line in Europe.
