Fire at Karkkila has bigger financial consequences than expected

The fire on Tuesday morning, 6 September 2005 at the Componenta Karkkila
foundry has caused greater damage than was previously estimated. The
fire, which broke out towards the end of the moulding line at the
foundry, damaged not only the conveyor belts but also the electrical
system. It is expected to take until the end of this week to repair the
damage, interrupting production for the same period. Total costs from the
material damage caused directly by the fire and from lost production are
estimated at several hundred thousand euros. The fire did not cause any
injuries to personnel.

Early this week, Componenta's Heerlen foundry in the Netherlands suffered
a break in production that lasted about one and a half days. A disruption
in the electricity supply caused by a power cut damaged the melting
furnace at the foundry, resulting again in costs of several hundred
thousand euros for the repair work and lost production during the
repairs.

Mainly caused by these interruptions the growth of Componenta's net sales
in the third quarter of 2005 are expected to remain at some 5% and result
after financial items excluding one-time items lower than in the
corresponding period of the previous year.
