ConNova (sse:conn) lands largest order ever
CONNOVA (SSE:CONN) LANDS LARGEST ORDER EVER ConNova and the Turkish satellite TV operator Digital Platform, which is owned by two of the largest conglomerates in Turkey, have today signed a Letter of Intent regarding delivery of a BizManager system with ancillary services. The agreement is expected to lead to a firm contract shortly with an aggregate contract value exceeding MSEK 18 over a three year period, which will be ConNova's biggest order ever. Delivery has already been initiated. Digital Platform is a newly established pay-TV company owned by the Cukurova Group, one of Turkey's biggest conglomerates, and the Dogan Group, which is the country's largest media group. "For ConNova the deal represents a breakthrough in southern Europe where we have been active for the last year to establish the company on the market. We specifically appreciate that our first customer is Digital Platform, which is one of the most ambitious satellite TV ventures in the region. In addition the owners are engaged in a number of other projects within media, telecom and internet and there is a significant potential for an interesting long term relationship" says ConNova's CEO Björn Persson. Digital Platform Digital Platform consists of two companies; Digital Platform Services Inc., which is 100 % owned by the Cukurova Group and Digital Marketing Services Co, which is a 50 - 50 joint venture between the Cukurova Group and the Dogan Group. The Cukurova Group has an annual turnover in the region of 7 billion USD with interests in a number of areas such as telecommunications, industrial production, insurance and trade. The group controls two of Turkey's biggest and most profitable banks and is also the principle owner of Turk Cell, the country's largest GSM operator with 4,3 million subscribers. The Dogan Group has an annual turnover in the region of 3 billion USD and is the most influential media group in Turkey with interests in printed media, publishing and television. ConNova ConNova specialises in the development and delivery of business support systems for multimedia-operators handling pay-TV, Internet, broadband and telecom services. The company has 15 years of experience within this area. ConNova's services extend from consulting services to development of state of the art software systems. ConNova also run a customer service operation, through ConNova TVX, for pay-TV operators in Europe. ConNova's customers today operate within the cable-TV, DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television), multimedia and telecommunication sectors. At the international exhibition for billing systems in London in May 1999 BizManager, ConNova´s software system for customer care and invoicing, received two honourable mentions for "Overall Best Contribution to Billing" and "Most Innovative Billing Product".
