ConNova and KnowNet start up pilot project for Linköping University ConNova TVX and KnowNet will be starting up a pilot project alongside Linköping University during the summer. As of mid June, the University will be distributing certain course material via the Internet with the help of KnowNet's access control concept. ConNova will be taking care of customer management and administration. "Since we presented our concept earlier this year, we have been seeing great interest from prospective customers. Alongside ConNova, we can offer the quality and security that superior customers demand. The pilot project with Linköping University will enable us to demonstrate the concept in an operational environment," says KnowNet's Managing Director, Claes Rossby. "Linköping University has always been very quick to put new technology to use in teaching. We are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to make our courses more widely available, and view distributing course material over the Internet as a way of using new technology to facilitate the situation of our students. Thanks to KnowNet's concept, we will also have full copyright control of our material," says Hans Lindman, department head at Linköping University. "For ConNova, the pilot project is the first assignment for our service bureau activities outside the TV segment. We realised a long time ago that the customer management resource that we have been developing since 1992 for PAY-TV is just as suitable for other services, e.g. over the Internet. Recent developments in terms of services and total concepts such as that offered by KnowNet mean that there is now a growing market for our services," says ConNova's Managing Director, Björn Persson. KnowNet KnowNet is a new IT company. The company specialises in access control, payment administration and software distribution via the Internet. The company was formed in 1999 and offers a new flexible sales form for software through its KnowWare , KnowKey and KnowViewer systems. The end user can rent the product for a certain time, subscribe to it or pay per use. The company is owned by companies and investors with a longstanding experience from within the education and software market. ConNova ConNova specialises in developing and supplying business support systems for multimedia operators handling pay-TV, the Internet, broadband and telecoms services. The company has 15 year's experience of the industry. ConNova's services extend from consulting services to the development of software adapted to meet the market's latest requirements. Within the framework of ConNova TVX AB, ConNova also runs customer services on an assignment basis for European pay-TV operators. ConNova's current customers are mainly to be found in the fields of cable TV, DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television), multimedia and telecommunications. At the international exhibition for billing systems in London in May 1999, ConNova's customer management system BizManager was awarded two honourable mentions, one for "Overall Best Contribution to Billing" and the other for "Most Innovative Billing Product".
