Buile Hill Academy awarded national Leading Parent Partnership Award
Salford, UK, 9th November 2020 – Salford-based Buile Hill Academy, part of the Consilium Academies Multi-Academy Trust, has been awarded the prestigious Leading Parent Partnership Award (LLPA) for its commitment to investing in parent and carer communications to ensure the success of pupils.
Salford-based Buile Hill Academy, part of the Consilium Academies Multi-Academy Trust, has been awarded the prestigious Leading Parent Partnership Award (LLPA) for its commitment to investing in parent and carer communications to ensure the success of pupils.
The award, granted by Award Place, is given to education providers who are dedicated to providing the best-quality communications for the parents and carers of its pupils. Additionally, the award looks at how the educational institution goes above and beyond to support its pupils’ carers.
During the period of review, inspectors spoke to students, and engaged in conversations with parents about how they found the communication between themselves and the academy. Following several evaluations – where Buile Hill provided clear evidence of a sustained approach to parental engagement, with this increasing 50 per cent at parents evenings alone, and carers providing outstanding feedback on their experiences with the Academy – Buile Hill was granted the award.
Buile Hill was highly commended for its particular dedication to not only doing the best for pupils, through constant communications both in and outside of school, but also extending this activity to parents and carers too. The academy was particularly praised for its handling of communications with carers over the period of lockdown earlier in the year with all families receiving a weekly or sometimes daily call to offer support and guidance throughout the lockdown. Additionally, it was noted that Buile has excellent partnerships with its feeder primary schools and colleges – meaning it is able to support pupils and parents as the transition in and out of the Academy.
Within the LPPA framework, educational institutions must provide excellence in the following areas: transition – it supports parents and children through the transition process; participation – it includes all groups of parents in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning; communication – it is a welcoming, communicative, and friendly place for parents; guidance – it provides clear and accessible guidance to parents to help support their child’s learning and development; induction – there is clear guidance on the responsibilities of parents, school, and pupils and this is shared as part of the induction process; home-school links – production of parent-friendly policies to establish effective home-school links.
Upon receiving the award, Head teacher at Buile Hill Academy, Jon Marsh, said: “I am immensely proud of Buile Hill for being granted this award, every one who joins our academy becomes part of the Buile Hill Family, meaning we treat them with mutual respect, understanding, and value. As a result, this means ensuring each member of the community receives the best quality care and communication during all their interactions with us.
“There is no doubt in my mind that we will continue to work in partnership with parents and carers to further increase parental participation at Buile Hill, leading to improved pupil progress, punctuality, attendance, and behaviour – resulting in long-term improved outcomes in all aspects of Academy life.”
David Clayton, CEO of Consilium Academies, added: “We’re thrilled to see Buile Hill Academy be granted this national award for its commitment to both carers and students. It’s only through the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the staff at the academy that this was possible.”
He added: “Due to the Trust’s inclusive partnerships with its local communities, it was inevitable that our academies would be recognised for their commitment to outstanding support and communication with carers. Buile Hill is the epitome of this attitude and we are proud to have the academy part of our Trust.”

Notes to Editors
Consilium Academies was approved as a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) and academy sponsor in January 2015. It has three hubs and eight schools which are supported by a central team.
The trust does not have a lead school and instead operates a partnership approach with a strong governance structure, which includes a members’ board, trust board and individual local academy boards.
Consilium Academies provides an inclusive partnership with its communities where lives are enriched by providing care, experience, and opportunity, and every student benefits from the same opportunity to succeed.
The support provided is always bespoke, with the aim of providing the best opportunities to meet local needs.
